Last fall’s furniture market showed comfy, oversized furniture - “man-cave inspired” styles - to bring simplicity and comfort into our daily routines at home. We saw enormous, wrinkled overstuffed pillows on expansive couches, and worn, rich, masculine floral prints and patterns.
Everything new seemed slightly old, loved, and inviting.
This spring, at the 2012 International Homes Furnishings Market in High Point, we’ll likely see more of those designs, as well as more manufacturers showing their take on a new, welcome trend: American made furniture.
A must-be-here for interior designers
Right now, furniture makers and designers around the world are preparing to bring out their best designs for the spring market, starting April 16. For years High Point has been known as the furniture market capital of the world for design manufacturers, and more recently, the High Point market is becoming a required course for interior designers to stay ahead of trends and new styles.
What we see here now in the spring will show up in stores around the world in the fall.
With so many amazing furniture makers showing their latest styles at the spring furniture market, you couldn’t possibly see them all. But in the last 15 years of coming to the furniture market, I’ve found several designers who consistently show both quality and value in their furniture designs and they continue to be my market favorites.
Showrooms I'll be visiting this spring
The market is closed to the public, so I put together a few things to help you understand what we see here every year.
So, kick up your feet, take a look through a few of these links, and I look forward to showing you the best in quality and trends when you come to shop in High Point.
